I have continued to improve. My memory is better. Less fatigue, more activity. Overall energy has increased and my joints seem to be stronger. I did have a moderate relapse during this period which scared me for a moment (actually 10 days). Most of the original symptoms returned though not with the original severity. I even had the same rash on my foot which I had always considered a site of the initial infection. If I didn't know better (and I don't for sure) I would think that I had been reinfected. This raises a question which I would be interested in knowing the answer to, namely, does the body develop an immunity to this illness or can you become reinfected? You see where I'm going here? We could be in a vicious cycle of infecting our family and friends, making substantial progress in our treatment only to be reinfected by those around us.The bottom line is I feel that regardless of the relapse (which was actually more severe than some earlier ones) I have reached a new level of health (not yet normal) and it appears the relapses are just part of the recovery scenario and not to be taken as a sign that recovery is not progressing. It takes a lot of patience with this thing, but it is paying off.
At this point I have done so well that I suspect the motives of anyone who says you should not do a 6 week trial of Doxycycline to see if it helps (if it helps you will typically require a longer period of treatment for full recovery).
For your own sake (and your family's) and that of the thousands of others waiting for the truth to be pinned down on this thing, find a compassionate physician and give the doxycycline a try.
